Brief Bios

Talia Baiocchi is the editor-in-chief of Punch. Formerly, she was the wine editor for Eater, a columnist at Wine Spectator and editor of WineChap.com in the United States. She has written for The San Francisco Chronicle, Decanter, Bon Appétit and Wine & Spirits Magazine, among others.

Lucas Paya served as head sommelier and wine buyer for acclaimed chef Ferran Adrià’s elBulli, in Catalonia, Spain for five years. With a wine inventory of over 25,000 distinguished bottles, elBulli’s wine list was highly regarded as one of the best in the world. Most recently, Lucas worked as the wine & beverage director for José Andrés´ ThinkFoodGroup (TFG), where he oversaw the wine and beverage programs for all TFG restaurants in Washington, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami and Puerto Rico. In 2009, The Tasting Panel named him Best Wine Director in the city of Los Angeles, CA. Lucas’ expertise on wine has appeared in multiple publications such as Wines from Spain News, The Boston Globe, El Mundo, Verema, Expansion, LA Times Magazine, Gayot, Angelino, Gourmet, The Tasting Panel, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The Somm Journal, Wine & Spirits, Food & Wine and Wine Spectator, among others.

Juliette Pope has been the Beverage Director of Gramercy Tavern since 2004. Under her leadership, in 2010 Gramercy Tavern was awarded Wine Spectator’s Best of Award of Excellence.

 


Joaquín Simó is a partner in Alchemy Consulting and can be found behind the stick at their NYC flagship bar, Pouring Ribbons, which opened in fall 2012. Joaquín was part of the opening staff of the acclaimed cocktail bar, Death & Company, and was named one of Playboy's Top 10 Mixologists in 2009. A finalist in 2011, Joaquín was awarded the Spirited Award as American Bartender of the Year at the 2012 Tales of the Cocktail Spirit Awards. He served as deputy editor for the 2009 and 2010 Food & Wine Cocktail books, contributing the Latin Drinks chapter, front and back matter, as well as recipe-testing both books.

92Y YourStage provides a venue for independent curators, performers, and educators to mount a professional production. Yourstage events are confirmed once they meet a threshold for ticket sales by a certain date.

YourStage events that are ON have been confirmed; PENDING events need to generate more ticket sales; If an event fails to generate enough ticket sales, the event will be CALLED OFF, and all ticket holders will be refunded.

Who is eligible for priority registration?

Individuals who have participated in 92nd Street Y programs over the past year in selected program areas, participants in certain memberships, and those who have made contributions of $500 or more to 92Y, are eligible to register for programs before they become available to the general public.

How do I know if I qualify?

Patrons that qualify for Priority Registration will receive packets in the mail explaining how to purchase online. Priority registration is normally mailed 2-3 weeks before a catalog is available. Registration information includes your Patron ID#. You can use this ID# to setup your login information online. This will allow you to register early for a course or event. Please note: if you receive a packet, you are only eligible to priority register for the programs covered in your packet.
