In the past few decades, comedy and politics have gone from strange bedfellows to an inseparable alliance. 

Satirical programming has become part of our common political culture and a primary source of news and information for youth, presenting entertaining takes on the day’s political events, while newer forms of communication like YouTube videos, Twitterfeeds and Tumblr memes regularly tackle political themes and poke fun at political candidates. 

Join us for an evening of thought-provoking humor and engaging conversation with three of the country’s most popular and insightful political comedians—Lewis Black, Kate Clinton and Lizz Winstead. A mix of traditional comedy and creative interplay among the artists, this event will showcase why the intersection of politics, social criticism and old-fashioned outrage is sometimes the funniest place to be after all. Don’t miss the comedy event of the season—it is sure to be seriously funny!

This show is a benefit for Americans United for Separation of Church and State, a nonprofit, nonpartisan educational organization located in Washington, DC dedicated to preserving the constitutional principle of church-state separation as the only way to ensure religious freedom for all Americans. Our work includes advocating for LGBT marriage equality, protecting women’s reproductive rights, keeping religion out of public schools, fighting faith-based discrimination and exposing the radical agenda of Religious Right organizations.

Lewis Black is one of the most prolific and popular performers working today. He executes a brilliant trifecta as stand-up comedian, actor and author. Kate Clinton is a faith-based, tax-paying, America-loving political humorist and family entertainer. She is an author (3 books), performer (9 CDs, 3 DVDs), columnist, film and stage actress, TV commentator, and as a blogger, vlogger, facebooker and tweeter she is multi-formatted to the max. With a career spanning over thirty years, Kate Clinton has worked through economic booms and busts, Disneyfication and Walmartization, gay movements and gay markets, lesbian chic and queer eyes, and eight presidential inaugurals. She still believes that humor gets us through peacetime, wartime, scoundrel time and economic down times. She is currently on tour with her show #KateClinton2014.

As co-creator and former head writer of "The Daily Show" and Air America Radio co-founder, Lizz Winstead has helped changed the very landscape of how people get their news. As a performer, Winstead brought her political wit to "The Daily Show" as a correspondent and later to the radio waves co-hosting "Unfiltered," Air America Radio’s mid-morning show, where she brought on board Hip Hop legend, Chuck D and political big brain Rachel Maddow. Known as one of the top political satirists in America, Winstead launched Lady Parts Justice in 2012 to energize the fight to protect women’s reproductive rights and expose the hypocrisy of Right Wing politicians through a series of videos and live events that mix humor and outrage.

92Y YourStage provides a venue for independent curators, performers, and educators to mount a professional production. Yourstage events are confirmed once they meet a threshold for ticket sales by a certain date.

YourStage events that are ON have been confirmed; PENDING events need to generate more ticket sales; If an event fails to generate enough ticket sales, the event will be CALLED OFF, and all ticket holders will be refunded.

Who is eligible for priority registration?

Individuals who have participated in 92nd Street Y programs over the past year in selected program areas, participants in certain memberships, and those who have made contributions of $500 or more to 92Y, are eligible to register for programs before they become available to the general public.

How do I know if I qualify?

Patrons that qualify for Priority Registration will receive packets in the mail explaining how to purchase online. Priority registration is normally mailed 2-3 weeks before a catalog is available. Registration information includes your Patron ID#. You can use this ID# to setup your login information online. This will allow you to register early for a course or event. Please note: if you receive a packet, you are only eligible to priority register for the programs covered in your packet.
