Join 92Y Art Center faculty member, Melanie Kozol, for an intimate immersion in Japanese culture through painting and touring.
With a group limited to just ten people, Melanie will provide individualized instruction in the art of sketching and painting on location. From Tokyo, travel south by train to Hakone to see views of Mt Fuji and a contemporary outdoor museum; stay at a Ryokan in the historic town of Hide Furukawa and visit the spring Takayama festival; travel to Mt Koyasan, the center of Shingon Buddhism, and a 900 year old cedar forest. In Kyoto, visit Zen gardens, temples and palaces; participate in a traditional tea ceremony; and have dinner with a Geisha. Masa Fujiwara, cultural liaison, will be our guide in Japan.
