Maureen Shea

Maureen Shea is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University (International Relations) and Pratt Institute (Architecture) and studied for 1 year at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She was selected as an artist to participate in the 2010 New York Foundation for the Arts Artists as Entrepreneurs Bootcamp and she won a grant through the Brooklyn Arts Council to be teaching artist in an 8th Grade class for her project, "Working: Portraits From Life.” She received 2 grants from Lower Manhattan Cultural Council for organizing an architectural competition, which involved developing a strong interconnection between the site, its community of users and the larger community.

Maureen’s artistic practice includes architectural design, drawing, painting, kinetic sculptures and site-specific projects. Her recent paintings are large format monotype and water-based media on paper. Many of her projects explore boundaries between imaginary and real spaces and between the world of ideas and everyday problems.
