Tom Sullivan is a native New Yorker. He has a B.A. degree in Special Education from Arizona State University as well as a M.S. in Special Education from Hunter College (CUNY) and a M.A. in Dance Education from New York University. He danced professionally with several independent choreographers such as Kevin Wynn, D.J. McDonald, Sue Bernhard, Monica Levy, Z’eva Cohen, Pearl Lang, Douglas Dunn and Yung Yung Tsuai. He also danced with the Washington Square Repertory Company, Dance Consort/Mezzacappa-Gabrien, HARRY dance and other works by Senta Driver and the Martha Graham Ensemble. He has taught adult and teens at the Graham School. He recently retired, from teaching Special Needs students in the New York City public school system. He teaches swimming to adults. He completed the NDI teacher Training Program in the spring of 2011. Tom completed the Foundations in Dance Education course at the Dance Education Lab (DEL) at the 92nd Street Y. He continues taking intensive workshops offered through DEL. He currently works for 92nd Street Y as a teaching artist in dance at P.S. 146 in East Harlem. He enjoys painting, competing in Masters Swim meets and teaching swimming to adults.
