Julie Garcia completed her masters in Dance Education from New York University in 2009. As a tap and modern dancer, she teaches at Broadway Dance Center, STEPS on Broadway, 92nd Street Y, the American Tap Dance Foundation and has taught at Boston University, Long Island University, Jacksonville University and the Florida State College at Jacksonville. Julie works as Germaine Salsberg's tap dance assistant and dances in Germaine's company "Les Femmes Plus" and Adam Metzger’s "SLURP." She has performed at Jacob's Pillow, The Yard, Symphony Space, White Wave, 92nd Street Y, the Frederick Loewe Theatre, The Florida Theatre and the Conservatorio Statale Di Musica in Florence, Italy. She has danced in Tap City, the Tap Extravaganza, the DUMBO Dance Festival, Tradition in Tap and Tap It Out in Martha's Vineyard. Julie served on the panel "Living the Dream" for the National Dance Education Organization's national conference; she was also a featured instructor and performer at the American College Dance Festival Association’s Northeast Conference. As an advocate of creative inquiry, Julie continues to research dance improvisation as it relates to the dancer and the creative process. Having received national recognition for her choreography, teaching, research and performances, Julie's most rewarding experience has been her instruction to various age groups and cultures.
